We are proud to officially launch CLIMB UNITED – Ascend Together, an ambitious European initiative dedicated to tackling sedentary lifestyles among university students and staff in mountainous regions by promoting accessible physical activities. This three-year Erasmus+ project brings together five partner universities – Université Savoie Mont Blanc (France), University of Beira Interior (Portugal), University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), University of Turin (Italy), and University of Zaragoza (Spain).
A collaborative approach
Climb United is structured around several key phases that guide the project from start to finish: an in-depth survey on barriers to physical activity, targeted experimentation
through outdoor activities, data collection and analysis, and dissemination of results. By adopting this structured, data-driven approach, the project fosters inclusive and healthy academic communities and strengthens cross-border cooperation, with the aim of serving as a replicable model for universities across Europe.
How can you take part?
Starting in March 2026, students and staff of the five partner universities will be invited to participate in a large-scale survey. Through this survey, key data will be obtained regarding physical activity levels, sedentary habits, and personal motivations.
Your participation in the survey is important:
- Everyone counts– whether you are highly active or not active at all
- A first step toward change– sharing your experience contributes to a collective movement
- Get involved further– you will have a chance to take part in future outdoor activities and may even become Climb United ambassadors and inspire others
Initiatives to come in 2026
The project will roll out a range of initiatives, including:
- Outdoor sports activities (summer and winter 2026-2028)
- Cross-border challenges
- Workshops on themes related to physical activity
- Support groups and personalized training programs
